Nick Stimson

is a freelance playwright and theatre director. He is an associate director of the Theatre Royal, Plymouth. In the past he has worked as a drama teacher, as a Centre Director for The Arvon Foundation and was also the founding Director of the Young People’s Theatre and Education Unit at The Young Vic, London .

More recently he was the Artistic Director of The National Student Drama Festival. He has also written and directed for television and radio and is a regular tutor for the Arvon Foundation. Productions include: ‘NHS The Musical’ (Theatre Royal, Plymouth) & ‘Frankenstein’ (YMT UK at The Cochrane Theatre, London) - both with music by Jimmy Jewell; ‘Korczak’ & ‘The Lost Domain’ (Theatre Royal Plymouth) - both with music by Chris Williams; ‘Union Street’ (THeatre Royal Plymouth); ‘Matthew Miller’ (Northcott Theatre, Exeter).

Current projects include ‘Who Ate All The Pies’ a new musical about football for the Theatre Royal, Plymouth; ‘Promised Land’ with Sunday Mirror Chief Sports Writer, Anthony Clavane; ‘Peter Pan’ for YMT UK for the Aberdeen Festival; ‘A Winter’s Tale’, with music by Howard Goodall at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford and then London; ‘Are You Watching, Mister Capello?’ for the Watford Palace Theatre; and writing a play for Radio 4.
